B17G model plane update

It's been a few weeks since I started construction of my balsa wood model plane. After these many nights of gluing a few pieces then waiting two hours before gluing some more, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Minus the skin and simulated glass pieces, the fuselage is complete. I honestly never thought I would make it this far. The kit is complicated and very time consuming. But with some patient, I am beginning to see it all come together.

Right now I am more motivated than ever to keep working on the model. Just recently I traveled up to Oregon to see my Mom and Step Dad Brian. Being that I am a typical tourist and love sightseeing, I insisted about going on some sort of adventure. My Mom suggested that we go to the near by Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon to see the "Spruce Goose" flying boat. Once we got there, we heard that the museum actually had a real B17G on display. I then rushed to the bomber plane to see a full-size version of what I was building. When I saw it, I was amazed at how big and beautiful this thing is. As I made my way to the back, I found out that they were letting people go inside of it. I paid the small fee to go in, and then hopped in the rear entrance. When I got inside, I was nothing short of astonished at the intricate work on the inner structure.

Afterwards, I walked over to Howard Hughes' H-4 aka the "Spruce Goose" and journeyed into the cargo area. This plane is huge and the crazy thing is that it is made of wood. It was very inspiring to see something that big made of similar materials to what I am using to build a small version of the bomber. As I now start on the painstaking task of cutting the pieces for the wings, I just keep the images in my head of the real planes I had visited.
