my truck is coming home, unfinished, but home nonetheless.

i haven't seen my truck in a few months. I'm picking it up on thursday so i'm pretty excited about that. Then again, I am picking it up on a trailer and without the bed on the truck so I wont really be able to drive it. I'm not really excited about that. I'll stuff the '67 into my tiny 1-car garage below my apartment. Maybe i'll find room to squeeze around the truck to fix a couple of things that need fixin'. The turn signals and taillights don't work. I think the switch in the column is bad so i'll have to fix that. The power steering pump crapped out so that needs fixing as well. I should be able to tackle these things at home. At some point though i'll need to move the truck to do some fab work on it. Never did get the sway bars mounted and the truck needs them badly.

our webmasters will freak out that i dont have a picture to go along with this blog but i figure what the hell. at least i'm posting a blog. Its 9pm at night and  i'm just now finding time to post a blog.

1. so i didn't bring the truck home. i did work on it though. moved the air tank mounts from the bed supports to the frame. now i dont need the bed on the truck to drive it. i'm going back to the shop on saturday to hopefully finish welding up the bed floor. crossin my fingers.......

2. So I just picked up an expedition 1997 for my girlfriend been trying to find info on it. It has no oil pressure most of the time once in a while it does. so I'm about to put a new oil pump in and notice that pulling the crank seems to be required and so fourth pulling the engine to pull the crank if any one else knows an easier way to do an oil pump on a 5.4 let me know?

4. if you've been driving around with little to no oil pressure and the engine still runs, then the oil pump is fine. check the sending unit and/or the gauge.

most engines will seize up after a few miles of running will no oil pressure.

5. i spent saturday welding, and welding, and welding some more with my friend Justin. the bed floor is all welded. now it needs about 8 hours of sanding and grinding.

i'm hoping to pick the truck up on thursday. we'll see how that goes.

7. i got there changed my mind about bringing it home with the bed half finished. instead of dragging it home, i made plans to come back with my welding gear. So Justin and I welded all day and he's going to spend the next couple of days grinding and sanding. It should be really close to being done when i pick it up thursday. The plan is to bring it to reso with the bed in bare metal. we'll see.

9. its been running since the forbidden show. still no tailights, but the trans shifts fine now. just needs a new turn signal switch (i think) and a new power steering pump and should be fine to drive around town. i'm going to cruise it locally for awhile before i try and long distance trips.

11. well its home (for now) and safe in my tiny garage.

I dont know why but it feels like ive been staring at this truck for years now. I feel like changing it up already and i've only driven it twice. I think its because i've been building this thing for so long.
