Yeah it may feel nice to let it all hang out with open footwear, but the line has to be drawn there. When it comes time to drive, nothing is better than a snug fitting pair of shoes. I choose a good ol' pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars because of their fit, and thin soles that let me get a good feel for the pedals. With flip-flops it's easy to loose grip in footing, which can lead to accidents. So my advice is to find a good pair of sneakers for everyday driving.
