Last Saturday, my family and I headed out to El Mirage Dry Lake for a day of dirt bike riding and general relaxing.
This happened to be one of the weekends that the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) was having a Land Speed Racing (LSR) meet on the Lake Bed. This is the 61st year that the SCTA has been putting on LSR events at El Mirage. And considering that there are only four one-day races and two 2-day races per year, we were pleasantly surprised to have caught one. Fifty-six cars and 31 bikes entered the event, and according to results, there were 5 turn outs and 3 spins. The fastest vehicle recorded a speed of 267.399mph!
After checking out some of the vehicles, I returned later in the day in order to get some snap shots of some of the trucks for you guys and gals. Although timing did not occur until Sunday, many vehicles had already shown up, as vehicle inspections occured on Saturday.
