Battery Trouble

Last night when I went out to the S-10 and tried to fire it up the sucker didn't’t do anything. The dome light came on as well as the dash lights, but when I hit the starter everything went dead.

I got Eddy to help me jump start it which it did so I assumed the battery was just dead. I drove the truck over to GO-EZ to put it on a charge and test a few things. I found some corrosion on the positive battery cable, so I cleaned that thinking maybe that was it, nope. I used a volt meter to test how much power the battery had and the gauge read 12.56v. So now I’m a little pissed the battery shows a charge but it won’t turn the truck over. I popped the caps to find the water low and that was enough for me to track down a new one. At that point I took the battery out and hitched a ride with Jason to the late night AutoZone. I had the guy put my battery on the tester and it came back good. I still bought a new battery anyway because I had checked everything else and could not find a problem. Boy I’m glad I did. When I got back and dropped in the new one the truck fires right up. This goes to show you sometimes you just have to trust your gut feelings.
