A Motor Age article released this morning reports that the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) will be cutting several certification tests at the end of this 2010 year. The tests that will no longer be offered include Truck Aftermarket Brakes Parts (P3), Truck Aftermarket Suspension & Steering (P9), and the Engine Machinist (M-Series). The last chance to take these tests will be during the Fall 2010 testing period in November. Certification credentials, information, and support for Machinist, P3, and P9 certified professionals will be available through 2015. If these test areas pertain to you, I strongly suggest you verify this information on your own and plan accordingly. I have not seen this announcement on the ASE website, yet.
The deadline for the Spring 2010 testing is quickly approaching (March 31), so if you need to sign up for your ASE tests - do so immediately! If you've gotten this far, take the test(s) and get the certification (or re-certification)! Don't put it off any longer. Here is the Spring 2010 Registration Booklet.
